"Too bright" was a comment on the clarinet mouthpiece, and "dull" was a comment of an other player on the saxophone mouthpiece. 2. Bright with a bad reponse can be dull. Edit: not having played a Pomarico, of course I don't claim it has a bad reponse! Like.The T55 Java is more tightly wrapped sound wise with a lot of focus. Big excellent for a wide variety of playing situations, however I prefer (and am looking for) and great STM with a lot of 'zing' to the sound. I have had one for a couple years. Good horn, but I "cheated" and had Ken Beason do his benchmark setup on the horn. I've got the 85% copper, which produces a warmer sound. You shouldn't have to pay full retail; got mine for $800 less than the 1st price quoted.

The intonation was good, except for a couple of keys notes +30 cents. Mendini/Cecilio clearly copied the Yamaha ergonomics, as the key position was identical to my cheapie. I don't think it's the Leather or metal that changes the sound I would say it's the pressure plate that makes the difference.
